This is an Asian Ball Jointed Doll / Super Dollfie page, featuring the dolls and photography (mostly) of Mercy.

If you need to know what the heck a Super Dollfie is or what Asian Ball Jointed Dolls are, basically they are resin dolls made in Asia that are strung and fully customizable.  There are tons of forums and online groups that discuss these great dolls.  Wikipedia has a pretty interesting definition of what an Asian Ball Jointed Doll is as well if you are interested in their definition, but I would suggest check out any or all of my many  links to look at many of the lovely little things yourself.

One of the best yahoo groups for Dollfies and other ball jointed dolls is Ethereal Angels  and Our Silent Friends where there are a ton of resources (including a detailed FAQ on these Japanese dolls), so take a look over there if you are looking for more general details.

Basically, Super Dollfies are dolls created by a company called Volks (it's a name brand copyright).  They have an entire line of dolls, male and female, of varying sizes, shapes, looks and designs.  Like any other collectable, these dolls have a following with customerizers and doll enthusiasts alike.

My collection I have mostly dolls from Volks, but I do have a number of other dolls from other companies. My Volks dolls currently are: Two SD13 Boys,  four Dollshe boys (three Bermann and a Hound), SD girl, a Dollshe April Agaci, a Unoa Sist, A Unoa B-El, SD16, and a Sei Tenshi.

I found out about these guys through another doll yahoo group I was in (a Barbie group of all places).  One of the members posted pictures of her dollfie, with a link to the main site.  Ever since the first time I saw the boys, I was hooked.  It took me roughly a year or so to save up the money and finally purchase mine.

Being on the Den of Angels yahoo group for several months, I was able to check out all the various options on these amazing dolls.  My good friend Tom bought his first one (a limited edition Super Dollfie 13 Cecil) which allowed me first hand observation.  When the Dollpa 9 dolls were first shown on the Volks website, I immediately fell in love with Shiro Tachibana.  That's when I began my agonizing quest for my boy.

I'm not really exaggerating the agonizing part.  Trying to get these limited dolls is hard enough, but put on top of that the fact that you are dealing with a lot of overseas things.  Only two doll resellers said they could order the doll, but neither would commit or promise.  With past limited addition dolls, there is a degree of "will they sell out", as well as "can I trust these people"  and I personally wasn't sure who was the fastest person to go through to pick it up.

All in all, however, it all worked itself out.

I've been waiting a long time for my boy here.  Over a month passed between my preorder through Doll and Hobby Shoppe, which gave me a lot of time to pick things up for Dylan.  Almost every weekend I went out to various antique malls, stores, and online (ebay and yahoo Japan) to pick up doodads that would fit my little boy.  Problem was that my front room was being taken over by the stuff and it was a little depressing to see all these things and no Dylan.
He's a spunky little brat, interested in fast motorcycles, music and having a good time.  Getting his hands dirty is nothing new to him, fixing stuff is his thing.  Live hard, play hard is his motto.  I make sure to lock all the doors when he's here or else he'll be causing all sorts of trouble out there!!

At 2:55 pm, July 17, 2003, Joseph Dylan was delivered to my house.  I was beginning to think he would never get here!  I tried not to work myself up too much as I waited for him, but months and months of waiting really isn't something I am good at.

Eve showed up at my doorstep December 23, 2003 at roughly 9:10am.  Unlike her predecessor Dylan, she actually was bought through www.domuya.com.  As a limited Edition Pirate Sylvie, she was rather difficult to find.  I agonized over buying her for several months ever since she was announced at Dolpa 10. Most of my friends know I am a sucker for a pirate, and on top of this, I just thought she had an attitude.  Dylan needed a girl with a strong will, and the Sylvie looked like the wench to do it!
After Eve came, on July 27th, 2004 Wendy arrived.  She's a Unoa Sist (Gentaro Araki Face Up).  After visiting with Christy up in Portland and seeing her Chloe, I was hooked.  Though she isn't the same model, she is a sweetie, and has a different personality all her own.
Trent came soon after, on June 3, 2005.  Mia Peterson is his Godmom.  Trent is an SA Bermann, Valentino from Tensiya and probably my pride and joy.    It's amazing how certain dolls sort of "sing" to you.  I think next to Dylan, Trent is my heart.  He's technically my "second" Bermann as I ordered Christian first in April.  I was lucky to get Trent from Mia as she wasn't bonding with him and I impulse bought Trent from her.

I wasn't sure if I really wanted a "sleeping" or "dreaming" head.  but after the first few days of taking pictures, I soon realized that he was probably the most versatile of my dolls.  The best in posing and the most realistic.  Trent has a soul like none of my other dolls has.  I love Dylan as he is my first, but Trent is something special.

Christian (HDM Bermann) on October 31, 2005, and Gabriel (Volks Opening, November 18 & 19, 2005), Ethan, (New Years Eve, December 31, 2005) and Apollo.

Check out my photo section for pictures.  I don't want this page to load any slower than it already is. :/

If I look somewhat familiar to you, I moderate a number of doll boards and I write for a number of both online magazines (Dollicieux), as well as professional magazines such as Haute Doll, Doll Reader and Fashion Doll Quarterly.  My photography has been shown all over the net and I try to help people out here and there where I can.

Various digital cameras were used ( Mavica MVC-FD7, Cannon A80 and my Canon D20).  Photoshop 5.0 and CS2 was used to alter and enhance several photo shoots.  On occasion I come across photos on the web and have used them as backgrounds for my pieces.  I try to post copyright notices whenever I see them in these rare instances.  No infringement of any rights are mention in these cases.

This web was designed by both Bruce Thomas and myself.  If it wasn't for Bruce, I probably wouldn't have this up, so blame him (thanks Bruce!).  It's very much a work in progress as I learn MS FrontPage.  Also, since I do photo shoots on a semi-regular basis, its a great idea to stop by on occasion to see what is new.  Check back often!

If you have any questions or comments, let me know here.  Do you like pottery?  Well, take a look at my main website here.

Enjoy your Stay & Come Back Soon!
